Friction tester for staple fibre spun yarns

The REIBWERTWAAGE, which was developed by the former Schlafhorst company and commercialized by Textechno, provides an economically prized measuring instrument to forecast running properties of paraffin-coated staple-fibre spun yarns. Yarn friction is measured versus polished steel.

Centre element of the tester is a two-arm lever, which is wrapped by the incoming and the leaving yarn on both ends. The operator has to shift the entry point of the yarn in such a way that the balance is in equilibrium. The entry point then marks the coefficient of friction on a scale.

A second version of the tester – REIBWERTWAAGE Sp – employs a self-compensating system and does not need manual interaction. A signal output enables connection of a PC for data processing and graphic representation of the coefficient of friction.

Nowadays the Textechno REIBWERTWAAGE is a standard tool in quality control of most spinning- and yarn-processing mills.
