A striking characteristic of the STATIMAT ME is the straight input feed into the test section by the draw-off clamp for each new yarn length. In addition to the advantages of low technical expenditure, high delivery speed and insignificant susceptibility to failure, the process enables the use of a package changer for feeding up to 50 yarn packages.

A nip roller yarn feed mechanism, which TEXTECHNO introduced in 1987 to automatic yarn tensile testing, enables high speed take-off of selected yarn lengths prior to starting the tensile test on a new package or between individual tensile tests. This means that tensile tests can be carried out on yarn lengths both from the package outer- and inner layers.

AUTOCOUNT

Another remarkable TEXTECHNO innovation is the yarn collection and weighing system AUTOCOUNT, which together with the yarn feed mechanism enables fully automatic yarn count measurements.

In addition to standard tensile tests carried out on yarns, twisted yarns and mono-filaments, the STATIMAT ME can also be used within the permissible force range of 1000 N to carry out tensile- and elasticity tests on fabrics and cohesion tests on slivers and rovings. For this, various special clamps for manual introduction of the test sample are available as replacements for the automatic yarn clamps.

To assure highest possible measuring accuracy, all measuring systems of the STATIMAT ME - force, extension, rate of extension, yarn length (feed mechanism) and weight (AUTOCOUNT) - can be calibrated in fully- or semi-automatic mode.

The TESTCONTROL PC system collects and statistically evaluates a multiplicity of relevant measured variables from both the tensile- and yarn count tests. It also controls the test process according to preselected parameters.

System components

Test section:

2 pneumatic yarn clamps, automatic linear threading, min. gauge length 50 mm, max. travel of draw-off clamp 860 mm for a 100 mm gauge length, draw-off clamp speed 1 - 5000 mm/min.

Package changer:

Standard version with 20 positions, expandable to 50 positions.

Measuring systems:

Force measuring device with easily exchangeable force transducers, max. 1000 N; (1500 N on request).

Elongation measuring device with resolver, resolution 2 µm.

Yarn feed mechanism:

Nip-roller system, max. yarn delivery speed of 500 m/min, resolution of length measurement 0.2 mm.

AUTOCOUNT:

Yarn collection and weighing device, measuring range 0 - 310 g, resolution 1 mg.
