Herbert Stein

From 1949 to 1979

As early as in the 30s his position as head of the department for textile machine gears at AEG in Berlin brought Chief engineer Herbert Stein in contact with the needs of the textile industry and the developing man-made fibre industry as well as their scientific and metrological types of problems.

Knowing this, one can understand that, on the one hand, he started early to develop experimental equipment and test instruments, and on the other hand carried out studies and research works shown in numerous publications.

Even after the founding of the firm of engineering consultancy Herbert Stein, his interests were always focused on the textile research - besides the development and production of testing instruments.

In his opinion the construction and manufacturing of such equipment was more a means to serve his scientific inclination than an industrial production according to market principles.

From 1979 to 1990

In the early years electrical engineer Alex Mörschel joined the small team around Herbert Stein in 1952. First involved with mainly electrical tasks, the talents of the new employee for mechanical constructions soon became apparent.

Anyone who looks at the present range of products of Textechno testing instruments and who knows that many of them and even some of the latest products such as the Favimat-Robot mainly came from Alex Mörschel can imagine which importance his work had - and still has - for the development of the company.

Therefore, it was no wonder that Herbert Stein appointed Alex Mörschel as managing director of Textechno before his death in 1979.

This date marks the start of a new era with efficient series production in the company and the increasing use of modern machine tools and machining Centres.

Under his leadership an economic upturn started Which, among other things, made the construction of a new company building possible, and which is still continuing.

In 1990 Alex Mörschel went into his well-earned retirement but he still does freelance work for the company and, almost daily, gives contradiction to all those who think that at the age of 65 careers and professional competence are over.

From 1990 to 1999

The third of the Textechno managing directors since 1990 was Dr. Wolfgang Stein, son of the company founder and, so to speak, involved with his father's work and the textile world from childhood.

Dr. Stein studied physics at RWTH Aachen and was a student of professor Walther Wegener (Institute for Textile Technology at RWTH Aachen) and Professor Helmut Zahn (German Institute for Wool Research in Aachen), where he took his PhD.

Later he led the Institute for Textile Measurement Techniques founded by his father, for many years. Equipment such as Texturmat and Dynafil to which development the research institute contributed important factors, derive from this time.

As the last generation so far Dr. Ulrich Mörschel was appointed managing director beside Dr. Stein in 1997.

Dr. Mörschel, son of Alex Mörschel, is also a trained physicist, and worked while doing his diploma thesis and PhD, on the development of measuring and analysing equipment before he joined the company Textechno – as technical director in 1992. Since the move of Dr W. Stein into the position of the chairman of Textechno on January 1st, 1999, Dr. U. Mörschel has the function of sole managing director of Textechno.
