Mr. Alex Moerschel passed away |

 With deep regrets we announce that Mr. Alex Moerschel, former managing director of Textechno and the father of Dr. Ulrich Moerschel, our present managing director, passed away unexpectedly at the age of eighty-four on 17.02.2010.
Mr. Alex Moerschel started his career as an electrical engineer in our company already in 1953. After the death of Mr. Stein senior he became the managing director of Textechno in 1979, and stayed in this position until his retirement in 1990. Even after this date he was still actively working with Textechno for quite a number of years.
Mr. Moerschel was the intellectual father of many Textechno products such as the STATIMAT, TEXTURMAT, DYNAFIL, or FAVIMAT-ROBOT testers, which have acquired world reputation during the course of the years. Even today the position of our company on the market is to a great deal the merit of Mr. Alex Moerschel.
We at Textechno shall spare no efforts to continue his life work in the future. |

Automatic Testing on Carbon Fibres |

The importance of carbon fibres as a reinforcement material in energy-saving lightweight composites is well accepted nowadays. Fast and reliable, i.e. automated linear-density- and tensile test thus become more important. Due to the special properties of carbon fibres an automatic handling of individual filaments has been considered to be problematic. TEXTECHNO in Moenchengladbach now could realize an automated test of linear-density- and tensile properties on such carbon filaments in their automatic fibre test system FAVIMAT-ROBOT. |

New European Standard for Crimp- and Shrinkage Tests |

|
The new European standard EN 14621 partially replaces the German standards DIN 53840 and DIN 53866, and contains crimp contraction- and shrinkage tests on multifilament yarns. Measurements according to the new standard can be automated by means of the automatic crimp- and shrinkage tester TEXTURMAT ME. The tester has already been in use for measurements according to the DIN standards as well as to ASTM D 4031 (crimp properties) and ASTM D 2259 (shrinkage). A special software for testing air-textured yarns enlarges the scope of application of this tester. |
