Draw-force tests on POY have always been an important quality control measure. However, the lab staff selected individually the testing conditions for such tests. Therefore, it was difficult to compare test results between the producer and processor of these yarns.
Since August 2024, the international standard ISO 12834 ‘Textiles – Synthetic filament yarns – Determination of dynamic thermal draw-force of partially oriented yarns (POY)’ is finally available. The standard describes the test method and specifies the testing conditions which are both implemented in Textechno’s DYNAFIL ME+.
DYNAFIL ME+ is a dynamic thermal analyser which is a well-established instrument for draw-force tests and many more dynamic shrinkage and crimp testing methods. The release of the new standard ISO 12834 makes DYNAFIL ME+ an even more valuable instrument. It can be used for both, filament yarn spinning and texturizing companies.
